J-Hud Knocked Up!

A baby shower was thrown for Jennifer Hudson in downtown Chicago over the weekend, confirming rumors that the singer-actress must be pregnant, reports the Chicago Tribune.

Her fiance must have game, we must admit. He got her knocked up before she even got a ring. Not that it matters, bceause we know who has the dough!

"It was a baby shower, a quiet gathering of friends and mostly family," said fellow singer-actress and longtime friend Felicia Fields. "They're really trying to keep it kind of quiet."


Although Hudson's manager and publicist previously denied that she and fiancé David Otunga are expecting, Fields said the shower was held for her on Saturday at the home of a relative.

Fields wouldn't say when the baby is due, but speculation is that Hudson is several months along. So did she receive blue or pink gifts?"

She's 7 months along. Let's hope this doesn't turn out ilke the real Dreamgirls.

J-Hud Knocked Up?

He ain't even got the ring on her finger yet, and he is locked in for life. He was not born yesterday!

Rumors of a Jennifer Hudson pregnancy continue in the wake of news from Essence.com this week that the reports are indeed true.

Essence.com and gossip blogger Janet Charlton both claimed that J-Hud's camp would be announcing soon that she and her fiancé, David Otunga, are expecting a baby. Essence said they had received confirmation "through two sources close to" the singer.


The singer herself, currently on tour with Robin Thicke, has yet to release an official statement confirming or denying the baby talk. She and Otunga are expected to tie the knot this summer.

If she is pregnant, how is she gonna fit into the next SATC movie?!

And to think she just got down to a nice size only to get blown up again!!!

No One Writes Roles For Beyonce...

Tyler Perry, who graces theaters today in "Madea Goes to Jail," has already moved on to his next film – a project he wrote specifically for Jennifer Hudson.


"I just wrote a movie for her that I'm really excited about. I'm hoping she'll be able to do it," the filmmaker, 39, told People.com at Wednesday's New York premiere of "Madea Goes to Jail."

Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson, and brother, Jason, were murdered in October. Her 7-year-old nephew, Julian King, was found dead a few days later.

Says Perry: "Her brother's birthday was [Tuesday], so I know it was a tough day for her, but she's good."

"Looking and talking to [Jennifer], there's sadness in her eyes, but my thoughts and prayers are always with her," Perry added. "That's one of the reasons why I want her to do this role, because I think it'd be really cathartic for her to take it on and work through some things."

While mum on the details of the film, he does say: "[Jennifer] says that she's been wanting to work with me for a very long time and I definitely want to work with her. We just have to find the right time."

J-Hud Back This Month?

The New York Post is reporting that Jennifer Hudson is being courted to perform at the swearing in of President-elect Barack Obama, in what would be her first appearance since the October murders of her mother, brother and nephew.


"Organizers want Jennifer to sing 'The Star-Spangled Banner' at the Inauguration on Jan. 20," a source told Page Six. "They are talking to Jennifer about it. It would be the first time she performed since the murders. She is from Chicago and a huge Obama supporter."

J-Hud Back To Work

Jennifer Hudson will return to work next week to begin filming a video for her new single "If It Isn't Love," according to her label, J Records.


The singer was preparing to film the video in Los Angeles when her mother, Darnell Donerson, and brother, Jason Hudson, were discovered shot to death in their Chicago home on the city's South Side on Oct. 24. The body of her nephew, 7-year-old Julian King, was found in a sport utility vehicle three days later.


Hudson has kept out of the public eye since the murders, but she has issued statements periodically thanking the public for their support. Last week, she released a statement after she was nominated for four Grammy awards, including best R&B album for her self-titled debut.

"It's been a childhood dream of mine to release an album, so to receive four Grammy nominations is truly a blessing," she said. "I am extremely honored and humbled by the nominations."

Dreamgirl's NightMare

Authorities are investigating the death of Jennifer Hudson’s mother and brother, after the two were found shot and killed in the family’s home in Chicago’s South Side on Friday.

Jennifer Hudson’s publicist was first to confirm the victims of the shootings were the Oscar-winner’s mother, Darnell Donnerson, and her brother, Jason Hudson.

“We can confirm that there is an ongoing investigation concerning the deaths of Jennifer Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donavon, and her brother, Jason Hudson,” Lisa Kasteler, Jennifer Hudson’s rep, said in a statement released to Access Hollywood. “No further comment will be made and the family has asked that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.”


Jennifer, the “American Idol” alum and Academy Award winner for her role in “Dreamgirls,” was in Florida at the time of the incident, according to WABC-TV in New York. She is now reportedly en route to Chicago.

J-Hud to Wed Bug: And I'm Telling You....No!

Jennifer Hudson and boyfriend, David Otunga, have gotten engaged, according to PEOPLE magazine.

"I can confirm that Jennifer got engaged to her boyfriend David on Friday night in L.A." says the rep.

Otunga, who is known as "Punk" from the reality show I Love New York 2, popped the question with a Neil Lane diamond ring on the Dreamgirls Oscar winner's 27th birthday.

The couple, who have been dating less than a year, both hail from Chicago.

It is a busy time for Hudson as well. Her debut solo album, Jennifer Hudson, will be in stores Sept. 30, and her next film, The Secret Life of Bees opens on Oct. 17.
