R&B singer Kelis has been acquitted of all charges stemming from an incident at a Miami area nightclub last year.

Kelis was charged with disorderly conduct in March of 2007 for allegedly rushing toward police officers who were investigating an incident at a South Beach nightclub.

Yelling racial profanities at the officers who were also questioning Nas, Kelis was arrested for resisting arrest without violence, but a jury acquitted her of the charges Thursday.

The singer, best known for her chart topping single, "Milkshake," married Nas in 2005.
In a statement to The Associated Press, the singer said she was happy justice prevailed and hopes this "sheds light on the fact that wearing a uniform and carrying a badge does not allow you to act above the law."


This just proves that you don't fuck with the first family of hip-hop!

Less than nine months after opening the Vegas version of his 40/40 Club in The Palazzo, Jay-Z has sold the joint for an undisclosed amount.

There have been reports of problems since the place opened in January 2008. It struggled to open for New Year's Eve after reportedly failing inspection.

Disgruntled employees who were fired or resigned also complained to local media shortly after its opening.

The space will reportedly be turned into a sports bar by the hotel. But Jay's not down for the count yet. He still plans to open 40/40 Clubs in Chicago, Tokyo and Macau.

Lil' Wayne = Incarcerated Gremlin

Richman said Wayne thought the case — which stemmed from an arrest in August 2006 in which the rapper was charged with possession of marijuana and more than 100 Xanax and hydrocodone pills.

This sounds like a party Amy Winehouse should be crashing!

Richman said she was surprised late Friday night when Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., had been arrested in Boise, Idaho, on a felony fugitive charge from a 2006 arrest in Georgia on drug possession.

Death Row Records Sold...to a Saltine

Global Music Group, which is based in New York, said Susan Berg won the auction, in a sale worth $24 million. Hip-hop heads around the world should start pouring their malt liquor on the sides of curbs now.

The deal means that the group now owns the rights to 'The Chronic' by Dre Dre and Snoop Dogg's 'Doggystyle'.

Death Row Records was founded in 1991 by Dr. Dre and Suge Knight, and was once home to some of rap's biggest names, including 2Pac, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Tha Dogg Pound, The Lady of Rage, Michel'le, Bow Wow, DJ Quik, Sam Sneed, Mark Morrison, and even MC Hammer. In addition, the late Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes of TLC was signed on and working on an album when she died in an automobile accident.

You know it is a sad day in music when Jay-Z, 50 Cent, or Russell Simmons, with all their loot, cannot find a way to come together to maintain the history and legacy (even if a tad fucked up) of Death Row and the beginnings of mainstream hip-hop.

Dr. Dre's Son Found Dead

I suspect some foul play!


Hip-hop mogul Dr. Dre's 20-year-old son Andre R. Young Jr. was found dead on Saturday (Aug. 23) in his Los Angeles home. According to a spokesperson for the L.A. coroner, Young's mother discovered his unresponsive body in bed at about 10:24 a.m. The Los Angeles Times reports that Young had been out the previous night with friends. Dr. Dre released a statement that said, ''Dr. Dre is mourning the loss of his son Andre Young Jr. Please respect his family's grief and privacy at this time.''

The coroner's spokesperson says the determination of the cause of Young's death has been deferred pending the outcome of various tests: ''It could take up to six weeks or longer.'

After reading this, I did a bit of research, because for any hip-hop heads from back in the day, you will remember that Michel'le had a child with Dr. Dre, but this is not that child.
