The Dollar Is Dead!

A watched clock never moves — unless it's the National Debt Clock.

In fact, the digital counter has been moving so much that it recently ran out of digits to display the ballooning figure: $10,150,603,734,720, or roughly $10.2 trillion, as of Saturday afternoon.

The clock was put up by the late real estate mogul Seymour Durst in 1989 when the U.S. government's debt was a mere $2.7 trillion, and was even turned off during the 1990s when the debt decreased.

It will be replaced in 2009 with a new clock, said Jordan Barowitz, a spokesman for the Durst Organization. The new clock will be able to track debt up to a quadrillion dollars, which is a '1' followed by 15 zeros.

In the meantime, the '1' from "$10.2" has been moved left to the LCD square once occupied solely by the digital dollar sign. A non-digital, improvised dollar sign has been pasted next to the '1.'

The current clock had enough digits to measure the amount of money owed by the U.S. government until debt recently hit $10 trillion. Since then, more eyes have been on the fixture near touristy Times Square.

Below the amount of the national debt on the clock is another row of figures: "YOUR Family share." As of Saturday afternoon, the $86,023 fit properly into the respective LCD squares.

The Dow Keeps On Tumbling...

What a week, what a week, heauxz:

* OJ in jail...again.

* John McCain still alive...barely.

* Congressional hearings? Fuck that. We want congressional lynchings!

* some of our most precious animals are fighting extinction, yet celebu-skanks are spreading like crotchfire

And last but certainly not least...

* The DOW is dropping quicker than Paris Hilton's panties at a fraternity keg party. And now it is not alone.

The FTSE-100 index of leading British shares fell 10 percent in the first few minutes of trading Friday on the London Stock Exchange, tracking steep declines in Asia and the U.S.

Paris' benchmark CAC-40 index also dropped 8 percent in early trading. Russian stock exchanges postponed trading after massive selloffs on Wall Street and Asian markets.

The falls in London and Paris came as Japan's key stock index plunged a stunning 9.6 percent Friday to close out its worst week in history as frantic investors worried about a global recession dumped stocks after huge losses on Wall Street.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index tumbled 881.06 points to 8,276.43, its lowest since May 2003. It was its biggest one-day percentage loss since the stock market crash of October 1987.

"Selling is unstoppable in New York and Tokyo," said Yutaka Miura, senior strategist at Shinko Securities Co. Ltd. "Investors were gripped by fear."

The index dropped by more than 11 percent at one point but recovered modestly in the afternoon.

Still, investors reeled from a brutal week. On Wednesday, the index had plunged 9.4 percent. Since last Friday, the Nikkei has lost nearly a quarter of its value.

Big Black (Financial) Hole

That's right, heauxz, so don't even think of asking us what we make in a day/week/month/year? That's clASSified information!

Check your bank accounts cuz the money may not be there. Major market conglomerates are dying a swift death this week and distrust of Wall Street has reached a feverish pitch

Can anyone say Enron?

Dow Droppings

Are you bitches blind or something?!

The U.S. economy is dying a death slower than Paris Hilton's acting career and McCain is surging in the polls?

We'd like a puff from that pipe, please.

And why is Obama plummeting, you ask?

Redundancy.

So McCain voted with Bush 90% of the time.

What else ya got?! It's old. It's dated and every news market has played this blurb for the last five months. if Democrats want to prove how young and fresh McCain is not, then they need to prove how vital and for change they are. Besides, older voters tend to cheer for their own.

And while you're down there, please kiss the hand (make that backhand) of every woman using Hillary's pantsuits to slingshot them across the political divide.

The Dow: The Blow Up

Our editrix has been saying for months and now it is confirmed:

The dollar is dead!

We here at Society Sex have made all the deposits we care to make in the immediate future. It is all about withdrawals.

Thankfully, we have job(s) resistant to the world market (don't ask, don't tell). We are here to comment on your joy, pain, and suffering for mere pennies on the soon to be dead dollar and we don't know what having a budget means. We don't take handouts.

We are the hand-out.

The Dow fell but so did the price of oil. It eases the costs of laid-off/fired Americans racing to the unemployment office.

Will The Dow drop below the 11,000 mark?

To all of you concerned sluts, go rent Working Girl and take some notes. It ain't looking Melanie, er pretty!

Be sure to heckle the stock brokers that pass you on the streets as you work your corner. They can't afford you any more!

Be gentle. This may only last a season. And no coochie coupons!
